    Hello to Ian Dark Peak
Hi Duracell good to run with you for a while however briefly before you pushed on. did you make your target time?

Also ran With Karen Nash for about 20 miles who was having quite a battle with Wendy D.
Well done to Zlod for his joint first place.

I came in just within my target time in 6.59 with Britnick only a few minutes behind. but it took a hard effort down that last road to do it.

conditions were very good warm and clear but cool in the breeze and very hard underfoot.

legs feel very tight this morning but fingers feel ok despite the blood letting.

My blood sugar samples varied wildly, I'm not sure how its measured (parts per million or percentage etc) but I started on 4.5 (pretty good) but it topped out at 7.9 (Vgood) and bottomed out at 1.8 mid race.

Bad cramp got me on the top of Stoodly and I had to stretch for a minute before climbing the monster stile

Enjoyed it more that I though I would and the Marshalls/food were excellent.

Only minor wimper is put the route out before race day please.

    Re: Calderdale Hike

Great day out and really enjoyed myself.
Good natter with Claire and others until she blasted off. Then Ian and others for quite a long way- thanks for the company and motivation.
Wendy was impressive as she left Lumbutts and powered out of site over Stoodley- I did keep going in the hope that she might slow down but my legs had had it and hitting all the tarmac at the end was the last thing O needed ( is there usually so much on road?)
Thanks also to the guy I ran with after Stoodley until almost the end.
Thanks to all the marshalls for being out their and their good humour

Not sure of my time but at least it was well inside the 7 hours

    Re: Calderdale Hike

What a fantastic weekend that was. Based on my previous Calderdale experiences I was assuming 8:30, with 8:15 being the dream target. To finish in 7:01 was a very pleasant surprise. Perfect conditions helped.
Well done IDP and other forumites. It was good to meet you and so many others.
Commiserations to mark d. Better luck next year.

    Re: Calderdale Hike

Ian, my average was just over 155, peak 173. I have been noticing a marked drop in rates over the past year or so, combined with an increase in speed.

Blood glucose varied between 5.2 and 7, apart from at Slatepit Hill, when it had plummeted to 1.6mmol/l. I had been aware of running for a while without food but I never felt any ill effects. At registration it was only 2.9, but I hadn't eaten for a good while.

    It's all interesting stuff.
