Continuing my make it up as I go along organisation for this, any chance of cadging a lift with someone from Threshfield to Ingleton on Saturday morning? I don't mind getting there at the crack of dawn.
planning route and i cant find hell gap on map, or at least its name, is this right, what ive got is a point NE of west fell above stake moss, does this seem right? dave
Hi dave that's it.
Follow fence line from Yockenthwaite (very boggy and tough under foot. get past here by dark if possible) to South grain tarn over fence as it turns North I seem to remember. and follow bearing as you go over the first rise you should see flashing beacons leading you all the way. take a bearing as they disapear from time to time. CP on the track which you then just follow all the way down to Hellgap proper and the next CP at Cray and hopefully grouping.
This is the last tough climb.
good luck
cheers again ian for info, hopefully it go ok, starting to get nervous if i think about it, thought something like 3 p's or edale looked daunting
I've had a bit of a panic. Studied the instructions last night and read that printed maps wouldn't do (I got away with them last year). Found the requisite maps in the third and last shop. All a bit pointless in time and expense as I'll only use my printed ones anyway. But rules are rules, even if arbitrary, I s'pose.
