    Re: Fellsman

    Defining memories of the day;
Getting to the top of Whernside and realising that although we'd already done 2 of the Yorkshire three peaks, we'd hadn't really started the race!
Cheese pasty and beans in a polystyrene cup at Dent after about 20 miles
At least an hour of horizontal rain and hail on Blea Moor
Getting stuck in a bog coming off Middle Tongue and having to lay flat so I could spread my weight and extricate myself
A horrible realisation that we'd made a semi-serious nav error in the clag/dark/icy wind coming off Buckden and having to basically climb Buckden Pike twice.
Coming close to redistributing my toys from the preambulator when descending Gt Whenside get getting befuddled in the same s**t weather and in even stickier bog
Getting to within about 6 miles of the finish before underestimating my required food. Cue retching, dizziness, and strange hallucinations that we were next to a road with loads of diggers lined up with orange flashing lights.
Then, recovering and finishing with our group chatting and laughing down the last three miles after Yarnbury after twenty hours .
In addition to this, the other thing I’ll remember is the good humour and friendliness of both the staff and competitors.
    Good do. I’ll be back.

Quite happily ran the 3 Peaks and had a great time.

Cannot imagine even attempting this bl##dy thing.

Respect to all those who completed this event in whatever time it happened to take you. Respect to all those who didn't make it this time (but probably won't stop trying), for having the guts to try.

    Sounds like a good 'un.

May have to have a go next time, so long as I don't get scared off by frightening accounts of near death experiences!

Well done to all... it seems that every finisher is a winner.

Any idea how Merrylegs and Mrs.C got on? I'll have to text.

They were both ahead of me and going strong when I last saw them so hopefully they've done well.
The comment of the day I got from a walker as I dropped down into Dent after getting on for 4 hours was 'well done'. I did mention that I was far from 'done' and had 14 hours left at the time but I'm not sure he believed me .

No I was in a group of 3 when we got to cray and we had to sit in that freezing pig pen for 45 minutes before we got a fourth member; I was nearly hypothermic... at a checkpoint of all places!

On the positive though we got 45 minutes added back to our time.

I was thinking more along the lines of Duff's description of Middle Tongue.
...or maybe you just walk on water!

Marvellous loved every aspect of it, those marshalls on the summits braving whats amounts to a Hooley and maintaining a cheery smile and greeting, where absolute stars, not forgetting all the other marshalls enduring the condensation and fumes from the generators at all the feed stations what a stirling job done by all.

A lot of lessons learned by me this year ready for next year, top of the list is to avoid grouping, (that isn`t a judgement on the folk i was grouped with they were a sound bunch) but i would have been happier going at my pace and on my bearings but hey ho

PS whats the best way to remove Peat stains from my feet
