At the end of the day, we are all big enough to decide whether we want to compete or not. Maybe next time, I'll not wear shorts mind. It was such a pity though as I felt really comfortable at half way and was sitting in a great position....guess I didnt count on falling and freezing up over Brown Knoll. Shame.
ricky this will sound weird but it was you who got me through
when i spoke to you at edale i noticed like me you had shorts on
during the race i kept thinkin well ricky is in front so i must go on .
i was worried when i didnt see your name and sent swoop and pike a pm to see how you was.
    glad you are okay
i too was in a mess at brown knoll so cant imagine what it was like falling
it was nice to recce the race with you and i would like to think one day i may be able to get fit enough to be up there with you.
    cheers

Thanks for the kind words. It was surreal experience lying there in the tent (yep, I met Ben & Lee) in a semi delerious state and hearing runners go by. I personally prefer to run in shorts, so thats what I did. I really wish I'd had a balaclava!
Contrary to what I said at the time to Ben & Lee, I have not been put off trying again sometime!

I too enjoyed the recee we did that Sunday, so hopefully we can do it again sometime.
I admire everyone who toed the line that day and those who got round. Respect.
And once again, a big thanks to the Mountain rescue, marshalls, and spectators at jacobs ladder.

Well we’ve all seen what some of our friends in mountain rescue think about fell runners in the brave or bonkers thread – so I suppose it would be a pity to disappoint them, wouldn’t it?

It would have been nice to have been a fly on the wall at the rescue team debrief after the race. No doubt they were gushing in praise for your bravery.

Was there no weather forecast at registration? No kitcheck? No advice? I’m sure there was.

Some of us need to start using our brains instead of the services of the mountain rescue team!

Totally agree with you on the shorts....that was the first time ive bowed to peer pressure and worn tights and i regretted it most of the way round...
