I know exactly where you are coming from. My daughter gets a not insubstantial amount of pocket money paid in to her own account, she has her own debit card and is free to withdraw what she wants but she then has to buy all her own clothes/shoes/sweet/comics etc unless its educational. I find this is an excellent way to teach her about money and if she wants something big she has to save for it rather than lending the money off me and 'promising' to pay it back.It is remarkable how my daughter misses her dad… when she wants something
