You almost killed me. I could only get 100 in and I bounced all over the woods and fell off twice. Are you sure mountain bikes have so much?

A bumpy 7 mile in the woods and trails.

A bit of bike servicing tonight after my run

bargain of the week has to be my new bike stand from DECATHLON
its very sturdy and seems the same as those priced at over a hundred quid.
    £50 bargain

Im trying to remember what my best time is for a hundred miles.
So many different factors and being that i never time myself in races ive never really checked.

Its a total different experience doing 100miles on your own in shit weather to sitting in a bunch ,so times shouldnt really be taken too seriously.

Ive had rides where ive easily done 18/19mph and some where ive suffered at 14mph.
Its funny though but i once did 157miles as a youngster on mighty white bread alone. I will never forget it . I rolled the slices with a rolling pin to get more in my jersey but ended up a nightmare as i hit bad weather and it turned to gloop but i just kept reaching behind and eating a bit more.

Just like then though i still say forget your fancy pants sportsdrinks you still cannot beat coca cola as a pick me up.

No carbon frame for me as i looooooooove me steel.

Incidentally i called into a well known bike shop in Derby today and watched in shock as a salesman tried to sell a lad my height a size 58 frame. The lad was about to shell out £2grand until i pointed out to him that he wouldnt even be a 56
    The salesman had no IDEA.
The lad had got the seat lower than the bars and was stretching at that.

The salesmans solution was to loosen the stem and roll the bars forward to apparantley bring the bars nearer to the rider
FFS i was amazed and told him so.
There should be qualifications when sizing people for bikes
    NOT GOOD , NOT GOOD

I did hear the saleaman mention that the model was the same as that what Lance had won the tour on.
    Jeeeeeesus.

Oh dear, reminds me when i went into one of those golf discount shops, when i took golf semi seriously for a year, and i overheard a guy telling some poor beginner " you look like one of those guys that want to hit the ball long and straight" No Sh1t ....

Daz, that is as bad as a lad in a shop in London wanting to sell me a woman's bike!

It was tiny, about half the size I needed... thankfully, I knew what I was doing as opposed to him and to the shops credit a better sales person butted in and steered me right away from the titchy white and pink bikes with huge padded saddles and triples...

Decided NOT to buy the Giant TCR2 they had on sale that I was tempted into the shop by and just as well, as I now have a lovely titanium racing bike
