    Baildon Carnival Canter

Next Saturday (10th July) at 2.15:

    http://www.runningdiary.co.uk/go/view.cgi/2500

Three and a half miles from the gala field up to the trig point on Hope Hill. This race is the counterpart to the Eldwick Gala event, which approaches from the opposite side. Though there's less ascent, the Baildon Canter has the advantage of being entirely cross-country, with only a few yards of road.

Excellent. I didn't realise that, as it's not in the printed calendar.
    Will you be there, MT?

Hope so TF - if achilles behaves this week - it should be ok for the relatively gentle climbs there.

    Re: Baildon Carnival Canter

I'm only a 'maybe' following a twisted ankle (wrenched Achilles) 30m from the finish at the Helen Windsor 10k on Wednesday. (It was the only bit of off-road that did for me, the lane to the club house; I can't manage anything remotely uneven in cushioned road shoes.)
There's an outside possibility I'll still make it, although I'd have to take it easy/slow, as I've been Tubi-gripped up the knee for the past 2 days. Perhaps I'll go for a rehab jog instead.

Anyone else reading this: please do the Baildon Carnival Race! We need support, and it's a good blast.

What's the route, as the only race I've done on Baildon Moor has been the (Bingley Harriers) 'Harriers verses Cyclists' (ridden in '07 & '08, & run in '09)

From the gala field at Jenny Lane, past Strawberry Gardens to cross the moor road just above the cattle grid. Along the edge of the golf course to the bottom of Hope Hill, bear left and climb the shoulder; contour round to Dobrudden caravan park, and turn right to climb to the trig point. Straight down from there back to the golf course track and retrace the outward route to the field.

Thanks, I can figure that out properly with the help of 'MultiMap' (for street-names) & my OS for the route
