    Yes, funny that...

I don't understand the audax/sprotive type stuff at all... and am doing my own tomorrow.

Just been out on the TT bke, which has had a service and it's headset sorted... I also have a new saddle to try for it...

Saddle works a treat, as 60 kms later I have no problem... but disappointed in my 10m TT time that was incoporated in this ride though. I fell asleep last night, when I came home and thought to have a quick 10 minute nap before heading for the TT... woke up at 11.30!!!! Must have needed it...

So 20 kms in my ride I end up on the 10m TT course and rode that at a decent tempo pace I thought. I found myself slacking at some stage and have no idea how long that had been going on for, as I sort of fell asleep on the bike, while pedalling down the dual carriageway ... Gawd, TT-ing is boring! Just checked and my split time for the 10m was 28.48 I seem to be going backwards, as I rode an unofficfial 10m TT before, same thing, timing myself, and did 26.43...

Anyways, roll on tomorrow's ride, long and slow

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Turns out a "brevet" is an extremely slow ride with loads of really ancient grizzly guys with beautiful steel bikes! I kept leaving them all behind by accident then waiting, until my last "good" knee went bad after about 30 miles. I tempted fate a couple of days ago saying cycling was a doddle! Bloody agony, and couldn't push on it at all, which made for an interesting ascent of Llangynydr mountain. Scoffing ibuprofen didn't help. Felt like someone had hit the inner side of the knee with a hammer. So jacked it in and crawled 15 miles back to Brecon. Merde (french cycling term), I guess I need to find another sport, encore un fois.

specially when only pushing with one leg and making whimpering sounds! But the incentive was the cake stop at the top. And the descent down to Llangattock was fab - 47 mph!
I have no idea if my bike is set up right, to be honest. What could cause a knee to go bad suddenly? The agony is focussed on a very small area on upper side of the bony bit on inside of knee. Walking on flat no pain, up/down stairs bad news, pushing bike pedal bloody agony. I've been wearing mountain bike SPDs, and I wonder if my saddle might be a bit high?

Unlike running, I have been injury free cycling - apart from the crashes where you can't walk properly for a few days but then you are back on it. Respect to the big boys who you see on TV getting stitched up by the team doctor whilst they are still on their bikes!!

That is awful, I am so sorry... we got to sort that out... are you home anyway on Monday eve? We can have a look at the knee and the bike... often your cleat position is the culprit with knee problems. Sounds like a bit of tendonitis of the tendon that attaches the vastus medialis to your knee, to put things simply...

65 miles hilly/rolling (105 Kms, for our Orange friend).

Keighley, Connolley, Gargrave, Malham, Arncliffe, Threshfield, Burnsall, Bolton Abbey, Skipton, home.

    Steady pace 4 hrs.

didn't bother with the 10 open TT I had planned today, as am going to concentrate on Cross which I can't do very well. Am doing some local ones very slowly, hope to get into the low 23's by the end of the season, currently done 2 in so so conditions and best is 24.04 (which is crap).

Good news is sport clinic says I can start running again slowly (been doing that anyway) and start short races soon.
