how are you getting on Southern Softie, have you tried running on it.

I put my knee to the ultimate test on Saturday and did the Moel Hebog Race . 2400ft of quite rocky descent. It seems fine now (4days later) it should start aching tommorow according to my 5 day theory. So I'll give Im going to get rid on the Weets fell race.

Im probably gonna start building the distance up a bit now also and try to get at least one lakeland race in this year.

Im thinking kentmere, but would love to do the Grisedale Horseshoe again.

Not been bad, ta Jamie. Followed DT's suggestion and been out twice now on that basis (warm up; 3 sets of 3 min jog/2 min walk; cool down), remedial stretches and exercises when I get home, followed by an ice bandage.

Second time today and my knee is a bit more tender, but think this is probably through lack of use. Just got to take it steady and not increase too quickly. Hard enough maintaining a 'jog' as opposed to breaking into a 6.5-7min/mi run!

Good luck with the races you've got planned this year. Funnily enough I found a spreadsheet I was putting together at the end of last year when I thought I'd be on my feet again in a couple of weeks, with all the races I had planned for '09:

All the Lakeland classics, some other ALs, a couple of MMs and was going to look at helping out on a couple of BG legs.

Mice and men, and all that...

Give me the benefit of your experiences lads.

Sixteen weeks down the line since my last run and today is the first day that i haven't experienced any ITBS discomfort. My knee however, is still clicking.

The question is do I ease back into training or do I wait until my knee stops clicking?

    Any opinions gratefully listened to.

    Right well.
I find i have good days and bad days.
Now'a'days i just get niggles in my ITB but im still getting bad pain in my ligaments.
I twister my knee at work tonight and my ligaments feel totally wrecked.

But, i dont want to burst your bubble but give it time. Maybe try the odd training run but theres a high chance its just waiting to bite you again.

Then again it could be healed?

    So really anything could happen.

Mine's not too bad now I'm gently easing back into it. Odd day it's a bit tender, but othwise seems like it's on the mend.

Never had clicking with mine though. I'd imagine that sounds more a cartilage thing?

    You had it scanned?

Whad'ya reckon? ITB pains down the outside of the knee have now gone.

Instead getting a pain on the inside of my knee (see attached pic). Fine during my run this morning, but the walk to the start (warm up) and now, after, it is giving me quite a bit of pain when I move it.

    Any thoughts?

Got an ice bandage thingy on it now.

    Softie.
I may be having a similar kind of thing to you.

Day to day life if much more pleasant because the pain is now just a dull ache with the odd sharp pain.

Ive done two long runs in the lakes in the last two weeks and to say how far i ran over such ground after being away from that kind of thing for half a year my knees have comped amazingly.

On the Kentmere recce the other tuesday, we set off and like always my ITBs and inside ligaments hurt for the first few minutes and seem to warm up and ease.
I did get some quite bad ligaments pain after decending Ill Bell though.

The run in the langdales on friday was the same story.
We set off at it hurt for the first bit, warmed and and eased.
My ligaments where starting to hurt around the halfway mark but after that i cant rememeber what they where like....and i got the odd unpleasant sharp pain in the ITBs.
