2 hour full body workout on the CX hardly touching tarmac. Forest, trail, rock & moor with new clipless pedals and shoes which make things a damn site quicker pulling out. Used to measure bike rides in distance and speed but with the cx it's more like how many teeth are'nt loose when you get back home

Erghm, Wheeze, I don't have a granny ring... my smallest gear is 39/25...

Ah, you save lives, that is a great job Toff

Just back from Abergavenny where I watched a clubmate come 5th in the elite crit... But before that I went out for a short training ride myself. As I had little time, I made it a hard one... Rode from Aber to Usk, did some hill reps on the hill that is on the Welsh National Women's Champs course, then rode back. NICE workout... I MUST get better at climbing, I can'y afford to be dropped everytime I hit a hill in a race

    115 miles, 8,557 feet of climb (max 15%). 7 hours 43 mins= 14.9 mph ave
    Thanks for the company Hanneke
Took Tumble at 60 mile point. Although its long, its not the worst hill. That came later with 3 long 15%ers near Llansoy and Parkend...eeeuurrggghhhh!

All in all a real test for TdG. Its OK but could I do it all again tomorrow...and the next day...and the day after that??

13 miles testing out the new Pompino-X, or is that X-Pompino... Think it needs re-gearing if I'm going to try and cycle to work and back on it!

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

    BRILLIANT cycling day today!

Started off grinding up some nasty climbs with Wheeze, which was great, because it is much nicer to torture yourself if you have good company

I then left him to ride up the Tumble for his chips, while I legged it at race pace to Abergavenny to hook up with coach and trainer and two girls from the club, to watch the Women's Nationals... We were tearing around the lanes to catch them in different places, with my bike in the back. I then left them to join a mate on the bike, rode around on he bike to catch the race a few times as well... and ended up seeing the most excitingly close sprint finish. I thought Nicile Cooke was going to loose it, as Lizzie Armitstead and emma Pooley were really fighting for it. Great stuff!

Then had a coffee with the guys/gals from the club as we bumped into each other again... they'd missed the finish woohoo... After which I rode home. 60 hilly and exciting miles today!

Club coach wants me to come on a training ride with the other two girls tomorrow, doing speedwork in a chaingang fashion up and down some dual carriageways... Not sure I want to. I have done 2 hard rides in a row now, was going to take it easy tomorrow riding to Aber and watch the men's Nationals and go for a run in the early evening. I have to work at 2, so if I joined them in the training ride, I will miss all the racing action and it is such a strong field too... and several friends are racing!

Have planned another decent ride for Monday, when I have the afternoon off... and club chaingang on Tuesday eve, going to try and hang onto them for a little longer again this week... Don't think 5 consecutive hard days is such a good idea? Feelng strong at the moment, but I don't want to overcook myself.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Topped the day off by giving the training bike a thourough clean, some flash new tyres (Schwalbe Stelvio's in black and yellow) and some new, yellow, bar tape... All the bike is lacking now is a yellow saddle, which I happend to have, but it is on the TT bike

I can't believe I have done almost 5000 kms on those old Schwalbe tryes (Ultremo's) and only now do they start to wear out... and only the rear tyre really. You definitely get what you pay for... Brilliant kit! And the Mavic wheels have done almost 5000 kms too and I still love them

I will take a pic tomorrow morning, when it is light, and show it off on here...

    Bed now... Night
