BRILLIANT cycling day today!
Started off grinding up some nasty climbs with Wheeze, which was great, because it is much nicer to torture yourself if you have good company
I then left him to ride up the Tumble for his chips, while I legged it at race pace to Abergavenny to hook up with coach and trainer and two girls from the club, to watch the Women's Nationals... We were tearing around the lanes to catch them in different places, with my bike in the back. I then left them to join a mate on the bike, rode around on he bike to catch the race a few times as well... and ended up seeing the most excitingly close sprint finish. I thought Nicile Cooke was going to loose it, as Lizzie Armitstead and emma Pooley were really fighting for it. Great stuff!
Then had a coffee with the guys/gals from the club as we bumped into each other again... they'd missed the finish woohoo... After which I rode home. 60 hilly and exciting miles today!
Club coach wants me to come on a training ride with the other two girls tomorrow, doing speedwork in a chaingang fashion up and down some dual carriageways... Not sure I want to. I have done 2 hard rides in a row now, was going to take it easy tomorrow riding to Aber and watch the men's Nationals and go for a run in the early evening. I have to work at 2, so if I joined them in the training ride, I will miss all the racing action and it is such a strong field too... and several friends are racing!
Have planned another decent ride for Monday, when I have the afternoon off... and club chaingang on Tuesday eve, going to try and hang onto them for a little longer again this week... Don't think 5 consecutive hard days is such a good idea? Feelng strong at the moment, but I don't want to overcook myself.
