Morning all (damnable insomnia)
I went for a 10km run last night (Monday), with my tendon strap on, and whilst I didnt have real pain, if I had to rate it on the ouch-ometer, it was about a bearable 2 to 3 as opposed to the 6-7 the other night..I'll see how it is later on today
Keeping on with the concentric/eccentrics for the gastrocnemius and soleus...as well as diclofenac ;-)

Just a note on the eccentric heel dips.
When I saw a specialist last year he reckoned:
a) they are the only treatment that really works for achilles tendinopathy
b) frequency is more important than intensity. So you are better off doing three sets of 15 dips three or four times a day, than a whole load of dips with a weight on your back once a day. His reasoning was that 'the achilles goes to sleep when inactive'.

I have found 15 reps of the heel dips three or four times a day the most singularly effective, and dare I say it, "satisfying"...in a nice streeetching kinda way :-)
I've my tendon strap on this morning and whilst I can feel a dull ache, I wouldn't describe in any debilitating...just don't expect me to be breaking any records on tomorrow night's run :-D

Did 4.5 miles last night with no major adverse reaction, sharp stabbing pain, etc...
Sure it was a bit tight this morning, but 15 reps of the eccentric//concentric exercises definitely eases it...so, Exmoor here we come
Now....to find a hill to practice up and down...could be looking a while as the highest point round by us is 150ft :-D

Glad you're managing to keep going Barty. I've got round to ordering the achilles strap and also succumbed to a physio appointment next Tuesday(I'm sure if the strap arrives before then I'll be tempted to try it out on a short run).

I won't pretend that the tendon strap is THE solution; it is not a silver bullet...I've yet to get running shoes, and have been running in issue jungle boots (Ro-search 10 XW if anyone's interested)...so cushioning may be an issue at present!! :-O
The exercises are very good as well; my achilles feels better when it's awake (I have a desk job)
But...the tendon strap has made my running easier; from what I read I'm the sort of fella prone to tendonitis (14 st and 6'2") so anything that eases the condition has to be a good thing.
I'm planning to run 10k tonight and will see how it is.

Well...an hour for my 10k last night...which given I'm still in boots and was carrying a
5kg pack (cant/wont carry more on my cross-Exmoor run next month)...I know its there but it eases a lot with my exercises and wearing the strap

Achilles strap arrived yesterday Barty and tendon felt well enough for a run this pm (after maximum rest yesterday) - an undulating 28 mins only but the strap did seem to make a difference - yes there was tenderness there afterwards but in a much reduced area and certainly less discomfort while running.
