Was very hot out there! A fair few drop outs and the passes looked like a battlefield, people dropping all over the place.

Took me over an hour longer than last year to do the race. Lack of training, too much heat and also ripping a pair of inov8s (and in turn my feet) to shreds all put together made for a rubbish race. Just happy to have finished though as I was sure half way up gable I was quitting at styhead pass.
A very honest summary of your race AJF, well done for finishing and keeping the quit demons at bay

An honest summary has a lot more expletives in it! Although the reasons are in order of importance. Winging Wasdale isn't easy.

I finished seven minutes down on my time last year, but suffered badly from cramp from Sty Head onwards. Comparing last year's splits with this year, I was faster as far as Pillar, but at the top of Gable the times were identical and then I started to drop back from last year's time. As AJF says it was very hot, and there was certainly a high rate of attrition. At least with such good visibility navigation wasn't a problem

Thanks for the time, just trying to work out points for classics.with any luck I might have some.

    Re: Wasdale 2009

What a fantastic day! Views were amazing, but it was a bit hot!

I was about 14 minutes down on my only previous attempt - 2006, but really pleased with my result (4hrs 44min).

There were some very impressive runs, though. Such as Mark Palmer, who fractured his leg 12 weeks ago, had the plaster off 6 weeks ago and was 2nd Vet 45 (I think), then Mike Johnson, fresh from his 17hr xxmins BG last weekend, finishing very strongly a few minutes ahead of me.

Thanks very much to Richard Eastman and his team of helpers for a wonderful day out.

Aye great run by Mark 'I'll jog round at the back' Palmer...he looked very strong at the end, very impressive come back.

My most difficult fell race since Peris 2006 I reckon. Cramp set in after 2 hrs ish and just couldn't descend. Really enjoyed the weekend, I could have quit a few times and almost threw the towel in after falling on the summit of Scafell but then realised the stupidity of that one..

Must say I found this a significant step harder than Jura and Peris. Just a different class of difficulty.

    From memory, possibly slightly out...

    1. Rob Jebb 3.46
    2. Simon Bailey 3.56
    3. Pete Vale 3.56
    4. Simon Booth 4.01
    5. Lloyd Taggart

    6. John Hunt 4.10
    7. Jim Davies 4.11
    8. Ed Tres. 4.12
    9. Ben Abdelnoor 4.16
    10. Steve Birkinshaw 4.18

I was 17 minutes down on last year, struggled from start to finish and never felt good. Didn't enjoy it - too hot, went too fast at the start. Didn't suffer the cramp I've done in other races but it wasn't comfortable. So, in summary, can't wait to come back and give it another go!
