    Al

If you type 'bitesize deals problems' in google you will find that some people have given the company some fairly negative feedback

I use ' Motion Based' software to download my runs and bike rides, they have just revamped it as ' Garmin Connect'
is it as good ? can't really make my mind up,think I preferred the Motion Base one.

I like tracking my runs on Google Earth, quite fascinating

The Garmin connect website is really slow and motion based is good.

Thread hijack... I have the Garmin 405 which is great and wanted to put courses onto my 405 next week when I am around Pendle on holidays, however the watch will only store one course at a time.

The Garmin Training center software has the "ability" to import courses once you export them from Garmin Connect onto your PC so you can store them as a TCX file and send to your watch when you want, however this doesn't work and is frustrating the hell out of me.

Does anyone else know of any software which does the same as Garmin training centre but works?!

Good arrows! I've used them since 2005 & am on a 305. The best bit for me is relaxing with a tin of lager free alcohol & importing the track I've just done to see where I went, where I got lost etc.

It has helped me pace myself & get a bit faster.

The Forerunner is great if you want to know where you went and even where you are going. I have found GPS a great way to improve my map and compass skills - not as an alternative. By-the-way, I just started using a free download software to anal(yse) my trainning runs http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/Downloads/ this is much better than the Garmin Training Centre and comes with somewhat better mapping software (incl. satalite images).

I've got the 305 as I wanted to be able to better clock my run distances when i'm darting down different tracks on the Chevin, or need to hit a particular mileage in a session. Generally really pleased with it, especially at the price (£120?), would recommend it but be aware of 2 things that could be much improved:

1: It takes ages to pick up a satellite signal, and I mean about 5 minutes. I have to leave it on the doorstep while I get dressed and sort my shoes/dog out. Once on though i've never lost the signal under tree cover etc so that's good.

2: Altitude is unreliable, but when worn on wrist is positively useless due to the fact that your arms go up and down when running!! In an hours session on the athletics track I apparently did 500ft ascent & 700ft descent!!!!!!!!!

If you can get over that, it does give a reasonably accurate view of your current altitude.

I was looking at Garmin's and Suunto's today, comparing features and reviews etc. In the end i settled for one of these:

Not a wind up it's true, i got a really good deal on the bay
