Regarding offence, its in the eye of the beholder.
Say I was on a train with my mate and a couple of pissed up lads got on and started having a go at the asian family sitting opposite. Perhaps we could see the father felt humiliated but didn't want to do anything to make it worse and possibly endanger his kids. I'd be really offended by their behavior and I hope we would have the courage to ask the lads to desist. The lads would probably take offence at us telling them what to do and start on us. we would then have to offend them further, in fact we would probably offend the s**t out of them leaving them with a considerable amount of dental work.
For goodness sake! Don't you think you're getting this a little out of context and perspective, and taking a rather extreme position.

From what I can see, there are a couple of, in my view pretty innoculous and light-hearted posts (I assume it was posts 225 and 227 on the Borrowdale thread) that appear to have offended you, Balin and Old Whippet. These were followed by post 234 therein.

The danger you are taking is to encourage exactly the opposite to what I think you want to achieve. An extreme position encourages people to react with the opposite extreme...and I'm suprised that this hasn't already happened.

Maybe we're just an accomodating bunch after all eh...
