What did you end up with distance for this Big Compass? I reckon nearer 8.5 rather than 9.0miles. Mr Breeze made a good point in that the race seems to have more descent than acsent too.

Did the James Herriot the week before which is pretty near the same in distance and height gained. Weather conditions weren't that dissimilar. But what a difference in running surface. Round Hill was much more technical and you really did need some experience to get the best out of the course.. Very dodgy passing people (I'm told) and very tricky for foot placements except the beginning and the end. Those forest trail parts were more like the JH was all the way round. Enjoyed both races but I was 5 minutes exactly slower on the RH. Never been able to do them both before as they usually coincide. I'd definitely recommend the JH as a beginners course.

    Round Hill, Blubberhouses 1Aug

Any takers for a short race this Sunday (only 9 miles and a bog or two)?

Thatch Ling is where the Roman road goes, must have been a drier climate in those days.

    All runnable

I've got my last long run on Saturday but might be found trundling round near the back or on course somewhere on Sunday

Hope so, put my foot on a sedge on Thatch Ling last Nov and my left leg went right in without touching the bottom. Dragged myself out, had a quick look round to make sure nobody had seen me (I needn't have worried) and set off again, very carefully.

    Round Hill Fell Race

    Hello everyone,

I'm planning on doing Round Hill on Sunday for the first time. What can I expect?

    http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...The-Round-Hill Last year's thread

Very runnable and probably more of a trail race than a 'proper' fell race
