This morning has been chasing MTBrs around the the red routes on winlatter, pushing the limits of a crosser over bits of that course me thinks .but more fun than a box of frogs and bags of good climbing to boot

2 Hours road this morning in the Ribble Valley, cut it short to save myself for tonight:

Great 2 hour off road ride tonight showing a couple of over the boarder interlopers the delights Accrington has to offer! Bit of climbing, carrying, mud, rock & trail - seems Accy has it all. Only 1 minor dog incident and 1 half hearted off
Good fun chaps, we'll try and get another in before the 3pcx.

That was great Ady, thanks. Accy is indeed an excellent centre for mountain-biking

A brisk 50 miles this morning with 3 others from the club, average 19. Lovely morning for it out on the lanes of the Ribble Valley cutting back through Goosnagh and Longridge and over Longridge fell, cracking views from the ridge.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Yesturday i did one of the 7 stanes in scotland - Dalbeattie

Hired a full suspension Giant for 8 hours and set off on the red route.

Its my first time doing any real mountain biking and it took abit of getting used to (mainly the bike) and it took a while to get the confidence to attack all the rocks and mental decents.
I tried a couple of the black route technical sections but i decided i didnt fancy dying so i stuck to the red route.
Got a puncture after on 20 minutes and apart from the chain coming off once i had brilliant time.

It said it was 25km and would take between 1:30 - 3hrs so i was chuffed with 1hr 40!

Was totally knackered when id finished and then set off on the 5-6 miles back to where we were staying....got about a mile up the road when both my quads and hamstrings locked up with cramp and i couldnt do anything but let myself fall over in the grass at the side of the road.
I had Daz's words of praise of coca cola ringing in my head so i walked the next climb up the road and de-toured to a pub and stopped for 15mins to down a pint of coke and head back.

Really enjoyed it, mountain bikers are mental!
Although i must say, i got my ass kicked on the technical decents by these two guys on Orange bikes but i left them for dead on the horrendous climb that went of for ever.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Did a recce of the Big Woody long distance tri bike course today with a friend who is doing it later this month. Just over 100 kms in the Forest of Dean. VERY scenic and a lot of ups and downs I am glad I don't have to go around twice though, followed by a marathon and after 3.8 kms of swimming...

Great ride, fab warm sunny weather and great company...

    3PCX recce tomorrow
