Check out Post 67 for the map.

Water is fine. Take a bottle to fill up on the way round.

Best water sources are at the beck below CP2, at CP3, Langdale (between CP3&4) and the last spot is at CP4.

There are a few others as well, but bear in mind that CP4 is probably the last reasonable spot.

There were a few gullies crossing the path after CP4 but unless it was raining i wouldn't use them.

Is it mandatory to follow the path after the farm gate at the start? During my recce i followed a clearing in the gorse which leads straight up the hillside (steep) and then i went right at the top to meet the path by a small stream, this cut a corner which the Harvey map instructed me to follow round the long way. I'm only asking in case i could get disqualified for cutting the corner.

I think that you can go CP - CP any route that you want - unless it is flagged.

However, it sounds like Harvey's is wrong. "Your" route is the race route.

As you pass through the gate, bear up and left, through the gorse, then straight up a steep bank, eventually cutting right to pick up the track to Arant Haw.
Although getting through that narrow opening in the gorse isn't that straight forward with 200 - 300 runners

Forget my wishfully optimistic weather predictions, according to the beeb it's pissing it down for most of the day. Looks like this event is going to require a good helping of britishness.

    Re: Sedbergh Hills?

I've just seen a team mates map and he reckons the first checkpoint last year was the start and the race didn't visit Arant Haw on the outward leg.

The map posted previously (although that was two years ago) did have a checkpoint at Arant Haw (and Pete Blands map here does by the look of it):

Anyone know? It doesn't matter too much, but I'm pretty sure that it will go up Arant Haw, its too good a checkpoint not to.

It starts at the Village Hall, then up to Arant Haw CP1, then Castley Knotts CP2.

It misses Arant Haw on the way back and goes to Winder.

You'll have a record breaking first half of the race with gusts forecast to 80 mph! Coming back might be a tad tricky though.

    Good luck everyone for tomorrow
