Pan Pipes again! Followed by Newton Faulkner, but I still prefer the panpipes.

Just done a lunchtime raid on HMV.
Tonite I shall mainly be listening to:
Neil Young Greatest Hits: Lookin' forward to Hurricane!
John Foxx Best Of: Pale and hopefully interesting
James Morrison Undiscovered: One hit wonder or more to him?
Doves Kingdom of Rust: Hopefully as good as Some Cities!
Any thoughts?![]()
Some thoughts:
Kingdom of Rust is almost as good as Some Cities, especially EmmiLou's and Al Fowler's fave Winter Hill!
Not sure about Morrison - prefer Nutini myself.
Must add some Neil Young to my meagre collection after watching his Glasto performance.
John Foxx had completely gone off my radar - did he have more than a couple of hits?
HTH![]()
The only Foxx single I could remember was Underpass. Very much of its time with squeaky synths and tinny electro-drums.
Now listening to 1995's Sunset Rising...very different, ambient trancy stuff. A bit like Tomita crossed with gregorian chants. Then 2001's Nightlife is back to a straightforward Kraftwerk vibe. Definately worth a listen for a mere £3!
Wasn't Foxx in Ultravox? I'm fancying some more Nell Young; a big influence on Teenage Fanclub, one of my fave 'modern' beat combos![]()

Yep, Foxx was Ultravox lead singer before Midge Ure.

Tonight i'm mostly giving the new album by Athlete a go. Black Swan. Two tracks in and it's not bad. Not great, but not bad...
If anyone's bored feel free to have a listen to half of my latest cd which is online at:

I'm endlessly waiting for the new Mr Hudson record and counting down the days by listening to what is, in my opinion, the best debut album of all time "TALE OF TWO CITIES" by Mr Hudson.....unlike his new stuff but awesome
This is lovely
