Hi mate. 34 x 18 is ok. Just slightly lower than the purists 32 x 16 (ie 2 to 1). It all depends on where/what you are riding (on).

I think I might be wishing I had a slightly lower gear for my little jaunt next w/end... http://www.sip-events.co.uk/kielder-home.html and possibly some decent waterproofs too!

Anyway, how are you enjoying the new toy? Takes a little while to get 'dialled in' I found. It certainly looks nice.

You've mellowed Fishbulb..... I remember getting stick for saying I was on 32X18.

Good luck at Kielder... was quite tempted by it myself.

    32 x 18 is still a puffs gear.

Cheers. I think I will need all the luck I can get with this one! Merry, looking forward to meeting you too, mate. Maybe we'll have a Forumites meet in the pub at Helwith Bridge after the event!

I'm a bigger puff then, and i don't mind dressing up as a girlie
I'll be staying for a couple of pints after the event, it'd be rude not too

Well, that hurt! It's been a while since I was so wrecked. I managed to finish which I am quite pleased about - I have heard about 68% of the riders didn't. A fantastic, well organised and extremely tough event.

Steampig - this might be of interest: http://www.singletrackworld.com/foru...ngle-speed-kit
