I really enjoyed the book. I work with a guy who's a Pose trainer. It's always made intellectual sense to me but I've never been keen to dismantle my technique (and potentially get slower) or overanalyse the whole thing. Born to Run has given me pause for thought though. Plus it's a cracking good yarn of course.

    Here's one to look over.

Barefoot Ted did the Leadville 100 (miler) in VFF KSO Treks.

Check out this video of Anton Krupicka. He's one of the best Ultrarunners out there and he has some interesting views on footwear.

Have a look at his Blog. Some interesting stuff on there. Usually logs his training, which includes bf running.

I had a nice run in the Vosges in the style of Anton a couple of weeks ago. ie minimal clothing. It was very nice (for me) to run in just a pair of short shorts (lovely). Didn't manage barefoot, or VFF for that matter as the trail was rather "technical" to say the least, but the old X-Talons handled it very well. Has anyone gone the whole hog and gone completely naked yet? It would be the ultimate return to nature, barefoot, bare-bodied experience. Just wouldn't want folk to share in my shrinkage issues though...

Still, maybe on a really hot day...

A clubmate of mine tells a tale of doing exactly this on an early morning run many years ago over Ullock Pike towards Skiddaw.

By all accounts, he kept his fell shoes on.

But that was before he knew what was good for him.

I had a go at barefoot running this morning( kept my shorts on). It felt great untill the wet grass made my feet so cold my calves started to cramp
Is this normal or am I being a wuss?

Well done sbrt for joining the barefoot revolution!

It's very normal for your feet to feel so cold. You will be surprised how much you will "feel" if you continue to bf. You have to remember that your feet have been encased in shoes for the last however many years and they have become desensitised and weak. Over time your feet will get stronger and adapt to the new senses you will feel. You will actually start to enjoy the feel of stones, grass, mud etc under your feet. Just take it slow and build up gradually. I'm talking from experience here, I got a little too excited when I started and went to far to fast to early and ended up with a stress fracture. Since then though, my feet have become stronger and I've gradually built my mileage up over time.

    Keep going and good luck!
