Has anyone got the upgraded version (LXII) and had reliability problems with it.

I think I'll be saving up for one of these: the upgraded LXII version that is. I emailed Silva about the reliability problems with the LX. This is what I asked them:

"Hi. I was thinking of buying one of these headtorches, but I have come across a number of references in UK forums to reliability problems, in particular the wires to the battery pack failing. None of these references mention LX II, just LX. Can you please let me know whether there has been any redesign in the LX II to address this problem? Thank you."

...and this is what I got back:

"The problem regarding the contact on the LX headlamp has been resolved and is no longer an issue. The connector has been resourced and improved for the LX II lamp, as well as the lens having been improved to display a wider beam."

My LX II arrived in the post this morning. The beam's pretty bright in daylight, so it should be good in the woods in the dark. I'm going to try it out tomorrow night for comfort, & will probably switch it on towards the end of the run & head into the woods as it gets darker. I'll try putting the battery pack in my bumbag rather than use the elastic waistbelt.

This is my secret weapon for mid-week hill training this winter - the Hebden's going to seem easy in January now isn't it? What could possibly go wrong?

This post marks my first senior moment on the forum...tomorrow Mastery (if I post once every 2 minutes for the next 30 hours).

I'd rather have the brighter light of the LXII, but it's not very bright if it's not working is it? I'm hoping to drag harrymoon & Idler up into the woods in the dark this winter...
