Lemming, will there be any flagging between Sharp Knott on Leg4 and 099189?

    Hi Paul
Thanks for confirming one map per runner.
Regarding Leg 1 route, can you confirm whether they ascend Knock Murton? This wasn't mentioned on the CFR web site, but your reply above suggests they will have this pleasure!

    I wouldn't have thought so.
The reply seems to suggest otherwise.
Down the east side of the water and then due S to the track.
Or have I got it wrong?

Going up Knock Murton on leg 1 is optional and may cost you a few places

No, there will be no flagging so there is a bit of route choice between these two points.

Not sure what I'd suggest as the most direct route can land you in very dense trees if you get it wrong (I know from experience!). As a training run after doing Sharp Knott I take the track under Blake Fell and then over High Pen, but this probably isn't the quickest. Another approach is to head North East from the summit, down a steep path to get onto the track that loops around the fell, often go the other way around on this.

Legs 2 & 4 have a flagged route from 099189 to Knock Murton summit... does anyone know roughly what route this takes? What side of the hill does it go up? From the map the N, E and SE sides all look pretty interesting!

I went round Leg 2 this morning with a chap from Keswick. We tried straight down to the forest track; don't. Follow the fence all the way to the flagged section. We found a good line to the summit from there. Not sure which way the flags will be going, but If it's not the way I went today, then sod the flags...
