Were you unsupported?
I'm wondering if a North to South would be a better option so I can set off about 6.30 and get the road done in the first light whats your thoughts?
Did you have a go Insider?
Poacher turned game-keeper
Yup but a bit of a disaster.
Got to Broughton Mills at 6.00am so decided to set off in the dark at 6.30
Thought I knew where I was going but stumbling around in the dark I found myself in a walled enclosure.
I climbed a wall, thinking this aint right then the next field I had to crawl through a sheep slot in the wall....surely this is wrong.
Panic starting to set in as it starts to get light, I eventually climb first hill......Yipppee.
Oh s*** Ive only come up the wrong hill
I then try to cut across country battling through bracken, stumbling and cursing.....( why did I get up at 4am)
Disaster I decide to carry onto Caw completely demoralised, but think at least I have got out.
I then enjoyed the walk back to my car.
Anyway Ive vowed to return after doing a proper recce of the "easy" bits.

Never mind at least you'll have an idea of where to go next time
You've just convinced me I need to recce this to Caw before I have a go
Bill
Bad luck. I knew the first section from doing Dunnerdale race and other parts from other races. Duddon, Langdale, Borrowdale, Anniversary Waltz and the BG. Just a question of linking them together. We had good viz and did not need to use a map. Even the bits we were unsure of went well like the descent from Great End.
We were unsupported. We left a car in Keswick the night before. But don't forget the keys.
Better luck next time II.
Whats the round-about distance/climb for this - no, im not think of having a go next weekend.
HERE
Unless you do my route then its 10 miles numerous hills that arent listed and a couple of walled enclosures and sheep pens.....But must be done in the dark
