Re: Montrail the new garlic br

Excuse my coming belatedly to this post (and indeed this forum!) but was horrified to read of the Highlander's demise.
There still seem to be some about so may panic buy as ham on me 3rd pair

I notice the Hardrock is being continued and oddly seems widely available at discount (eg Lakes Runner 40 quid).

Anyone know what these are like? They look a bit built up to me but can't find a "live" pair in Sheffield

    Any info appreciated

    Cheers

I find the Highlander the best grip / comfort compromise shoe I've tried. Hardrock is more of a trail shoe perhaps best suited to say PPP or Howarth Hobble in dry conditions

Just got some Highlanders today, normally a size 9 in most shoes, size 9 version of these fits perfect. Not run in em yet, may use em tomorrow in all this snow that's coming. They'll get a proper test run at Tanky's on sunday.

First run in em today, only 4 miles but great grip on the slush and ice, and comfy as a pair of pink fluffy bunny slippers, and i've got a pair of them as well

Yes I saw Blands and Lakes Runner have got em but was shy of buying shoes by mail order as you never know might be another batch or something,
You have tempted me. Bought a montane featherlight jacket from LR not so long ago half price and excellent service,
Meanwhile will try these Nikes (see Shoe shops post and e damned) tomorrow as couldn't get out today.

    Hi all,
Coming late to this thread, forum newbie, but reports of the Highlander's demise are exaggerated.

CampFour in Macclesfield have these in stock; I recently got some Montrail Streaks for trail/training, and will maybe graduate to Highlanders once I get to do a few more runs. The guy in Macc says they have just had a delivery, and are not aware of any supply issues for the forseeable.

Did my first 'proper' off road run yesterday - The Passing Clouds - made it round in 'trail' shoes(the Streaks, as above, were fine for 98% of the course), great feeling(although sore knees)

Zoot, the Highlanders are probably similar width to the narrower Inov8s. Wider than Walsh, but not for wide feet
