    Re: Dunnerdale Fell Race

This was my first ever short sharp blast in the hills. Coming from a long background of somewhat longer events (often on similar terrain) it was my first chance to push the limits all the time even on the uphills without having to worry about blowing up, and I have to say I absolutely loved it and want more. All I need is a better pair of proper fell shoes to replace my old Mark 1 Adidas Swoops with their worn out studs, to give me better confidence on the descents.

It was a novelty to get a race done and dusted in an hour, and also a novelty to queue to finish.

I was relieved that there were no navigational issues. I had plotted the route out minutely on Tracklogs and pretty much memorized it, but there were so many runners to follow anyway I needn't have worried. My map and compass went unused, as did the full body cover (no accidents to put paid to the running).

And what about the weather? The rain just about gave up in time and we were close enough to the eye of the storm to give very little wind, even on the tops. And the views were clear. Amazing.

Loads of thanks to all the marshals and volunteers. The meat pie and tea went down a treat at the finish.

..and lets not forget to congratulate TT who looks like he had a good run AND get a serious pasting on another thread all in one weekend. I was one of those lobbing stuff and in the final analysis, have to say he handled himself pretty well.

Sure you got the right Tom?

I thought TT was running Preston 10mile on Sunday.

Looks like Sherlock Oscar gets it wrong again. Speed reading forums is not my forte. Still he did take his slagging on the other thread well.
