I dont honestly know exactly on a map where the route goes: and the crags are in the wrong position on the maps so it doesnt help, also dalehead E is in shadow on multimap and local.live

What I can say is you are only on the main path for maybe 300m before beginning a slow radius left: all on good running grass, so If I had to guess it is here:

Which on your map is maybe here?

Now the interesting thing is that the lower half of this route is on trods which are pronounced in some places , less so in others

And I think I can see evidence of those trods just below the pink arrows in this photo.

If that is true, it is a lot shorter route than even I am assuming, and probably shorter than the walkers path:

So just look at the evidence of trods on here:

Here's another view of my original one - the line down to Honister is exactly 500m, so like you say 300m might be more like it.

Thats probably the best view of all:

It wont be far off, except to say that you are left of the path all of the way, and diverging from it - it isnt a sharp left off the parth - so looking at your picture I am guessing that the route is between your line and these arrows:

But check out that previous picture of mine: I think I can see the trods it goes on , and if that is so, it is shorter than even I give it credit for.

As it's a bit of a journey for me I'm quite happy to be out for a few hours on the hills just to make the trip worth while & will be studiously avoiding all tips generously provided by kind forumites .

If it's dry, there are perfectly good lines near to the tourist path. If it's wet the rocks can be pesky so the southern arc might be better. The direct line is obviously fastest if you are a fearless descender with bomb-proof quads....

Any clues on where it goes? I can play follow-the-leader to Dale Head, but:

    - is the best line from High Spy to Cat Bells the tourist path with some straightens?

    - route down from Catbells?

    Ta.
oh - stop worrying Mud you big wuss - anyway - you will find all you need to know on huwski's AW video - http://www.huwprice.com/
