Found it tough when the wind got up in the last 3rd of the race. I struggled to keep on my feet when others were still running ok. Think I need to eat a few more pies to weigh me down in future!

That 'little chap at the gate' was none other than Bill Smith, author of Studmarks on the Summits. He also marshalled CP4 so he was out there for a very long time.

Wow! Yes I saw him on CP4 and on the way back. I've seen him many times before, he's a lovely chap.

Me too! Drink bottle clenched between my teeth, gloves clamped between my knees, arms waving wildly.

Howabout a double act? Studmarks Flatley?

Haha I also had a similar moment on the ascent from CP5 to CP6, wrestling my cag in the wind, which I had prepared the right way before the race, but I still managed to turn it inside out before turning it back, and getting it on

DNF - first one ever, my knee just did not like geronimo.

Really struggled on from there to the next climb but just didn't feel right, I think I would have done more damage so bit the bullet and walked out.

Well done to everyone who ran, in far from ideal conditions, I'll be back next year.

Think I need to look at it seriously, lose some weight and get back to my fitness of the summer. I certainly didn't feel like the man I did on the 24th June.

what a day that was. first time i have felt half decent in months. really struggled lately after biking the LEJOG in Sept, but this felt ok, though died like a dead thing on the last two climbs. The wind was tough, sometimes just walked on the flt when straight into the breze, nd eyeballs stinging in the line of fire.

Interesting route, reminded my of long mynd. deffo back next year.

not sure of times as my watch was one of those forerunners set to stop when i do on a midweek run, but it thought i wasnt moving up hill so time and distance were both out. will have to await results.

good to see huw and moo there, who must be one of the unluckiest runners around, i see her once a year and she is always injured...maybe its me.

    nice to be running again.

Thanks to all the helpers, marshalls and public who were stars on such a miserable day.

so you must be the one and only Lochaber runner that was mentioned at the prize giving. a long way to come for a race.

i unfortunately pulled out on the first climb up Pendle. I have had stomach ache since Friday and i started well yesterday but soon as it went upwards I just went backwards so decided that there was no point in continuing so turned back. I must be the earliest DNF in the whole race. They certainly seemed surprised when I walked in the village hall and handed my tags in. well done to everyone that did finish though on a tough day. Have finished this race twice before so will be back next year to try and get a better result
