Ambition. I reckon the time would be about right too. I have scheduled in a 25/6/11 attempt. I will be 40 then and i will do everything in my power to be ready although some may laugh due to my inexperience at that distance. The way i see it if i fail i will learn a lot and i can try as many times as is needed but i want to do it first time.

Ah ha! we may meet on the way round. This next year I need to do an awful lot of familiarising with the route and some helping of others. Should be some good poetry at least as a side effect of the BGR

Merrylegs, your avatar is both strangely compelling and disturbing! Maybe I'm tired but I found myself staring at it for a full ten seconds as if hypnotised. If I run around the square with my pants on my head tomorrow I will be blaming you.

Same here OW. If i remember rightly the man who holds the record said you could walk it in under 24 hrs and he did about 21 hrs give or take. If you want drop us line when you are going over to the lakes and we could meet up do a bit of a recce if you wanted. If not thats fine too. Oh by the way you probably have these but the other forumites say the wainwright guides are really, really useful for route planning even before ever having been there.

Suspect Julia and Judy, the women who run our Chinese office aren't aware of this forum or fellrunning for that matter but this is dedicated to them after they bought be a new Kappa tracksuit top last week

two-tone stretch nylon yellow stripes on navy blue
I got a brand new track suit
I got the old one too
I got the old one too
I got a new track suit
    I wear it every day
    keeps me cool and casual
    I wore it yesterday

I got a new track suit
    I wear it everywhere
track me down to the training ground
    maybe I'll be there
    maybe I'll be there

wearing my brand new track suit
    medicine ball to boot
    knee pads, an airline bag
and the overall smell of brut
    the overall smell of brut

    expert eyes have scrutinized
    and scientists agree
    one track suit would suffice
but you're better off with three
    you're better off with three

two-tone stretch nylon yellow stripes on navy blue
I got a new track suit
    I got the old one-two

    Nice one DT...

    one from me before bed:

    A Snowy Morning in Montreal

    Some poems have no title
    this title has no poem

    it's all out there.

    In a similar vein:

    Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis

It was a dream I had last week
And some kind of record seemed vital.
I knew it wouldn't be much of a poem
    but I loved the title.
