Drunken driving is no longer socially acceptable - should having more than 2 children be seen as socially acceptable? We should be thinking in terms of managing the world population over time down to, say 10% of current numbers & keeping it there. Of course I've no idea how to achieve this, but at least I'm prepared to say it needs doing, which is more than the politicians are prepared to do.
Otherwise - numbers keep on increasing until there is either war, famine, pestilence or legal oppression. There'll be more erosion on the fells, less water to drink, more global warming etc etc.
