Solution - Ban all but those under 8 stone- that will solve the erosion problems and the numbers on the fells and leave it just for us few- so even a moniority interest get protected

Given the concerns about many new people coming into the sport and how this will affect numbers and the landscape

Also most of the field being 45+ they will be so addled following years on Timmy Taylors or Pendle Witches that as they will have no young uns to follow they will forge brand new routes in all directions in established races like Pendle.

I take it this thread relates to the recent detours on the Tour of Pendle to eliminate the effects of erosion.
What about the erosion and destruction that nature itself causes which as shaped the landscape we know and love today, it makes a few trods and paths pail in to insignificance, and anyway when global warming annihilates the human race will it matter, within a few years it will have all returned to normal, only the other year there was a landslip on the Big end of Pendle what is a common phenomena on the hill and is known locally as a burst or brast i.e.: Burst or Brast Clough near Worston, and is thought to be caused by a buildup of water pressure within the limestone core and then becoming too strong for the grit stone to contain and bursts out to the surface, causing a torrent of water sweeping away anything in its path this made a big scar on the hill which could be seen for miles, it has now grassed over, and everything is back to normal.
What about the Quarry’s at Deerstone and the reservoirs at Ogden the Cart track the dry stone walls all manmade but are part of the landscape and actually enhance the area.
Maybe if the powers that be, like repair the Lakes projects stopped building unsightly pavements all over the place making the fells more and more assessable to more people that may solve the problem.

How is global warming going to annihilate the human race, humans and there predecessors have survived massive amounts of climatic sporadity during the last 500 000 years. When technology up until about 4500 years ago was limited to working of stone. Nature doesn't case destruction it only uses energy to move materials from one place and deposit them in another.

Ban everyone and we can all take up "Virtual Fell Running".... isn't that what most of the prolific posters do anyway? I can't see how they can fit any actual running in.

What we need is a Wii runner thingy...although how you could mimic fell running conditions in the front room I'm not sure.

Maybe run in the shower , in front of a fan???

Perhaps the FRA could do its bit by withdeawing all compusory kit rules

I know this is just a wind up thread by Aunt Sally but how about run races only 3 years out of 4, have a fallow year where we don't race??
