The question is though Duncan did your 'secret route' work? I thought it might have been a bit rough.

Pros:
It was in a grough all the way to the Derwent Watershed path so I didn't have the headwind or hail as bad

Cons:
It was full of water
It was way to slippery for my Montrail Highlanders - I'd thought of Mudclaws but then there's the hammering down the Snake Road to think about.

.....I may just go with the crowds next year having investigated the most western (Shelf Benches) and eastern (grough through to Hern Clough) extremes of the alternatives.

Or I may just find some even more fiendish way of outwitting myself next year! Good job of I've got a case of Rescue Ale to aid my thought processes

Well you all looked to have had a grand day out yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised that everyone I saw was going strong & in such good spirits at the point where I was stood. 1st time I've been compared to an angel (). Sorry if I missed you - did have to bail out after seeing Emm - was getting quite nippy to say the least.

That photo of Idp & Grouse has got to be the snap of the year. Was quite amusing to see a couple of forumites (of both genders) sporting what can only be described as muddy moustaches - 1 in particular was Chaplinesque.

Fantastic performance by Daz.
