Roads in Haworth at moment are fine and driveable, unsure of Penistone Hill, butbottom road is clear and cars are up and down, would personally suggest parking in village (not at private car park or he'll clamp you) and walking up, it isn't far. I usually drive (lazy yes!!) but I wont tomorrow, I'll walk...

As think Stagger said, be safe, there are other races....

Tracks up to Pennistone hill from the road are if not sheet ice, then very icey, the only cars I saw up there had 4 wheel drive, it will make for a fast run out

Any one know if the distance/ascent is still the same on the old route - is that the old old route or the old new route?

    - the race tomorrow will be the old old route, see previous post - shorter as it is straight out and back but as it goes to the same trig point I guess the climb will be about the same

But if you have a sledge, there is ace sledging on penistone hill and the track to the car park that is the finish of the bunny runs is very fast and totally safe (unless you fall off). Happy sledging....

    Message from Dave Woodhead ...
the race is on! The course will change though - to The Stoop then back, ie the old route. The junior Quarry Runs are on too.
The roads and the car park are very icy - it might be better to park near The Sun Inn and walk in to the start at the Cricket Club.

Snowing in Haworth at the moment but not settling, its actually melting when it lands?? If it freezes tonight (as forecast says) major problem will be ice, not the snow!!!

Do you want hypothermia if you break your leg near the boundary stone?

Any news on current accessibility to Penistone hill?

Good answer! I was planning to take it, just didn't want to hike from the car with it to find it wasn't needed. I'm planning to park in Haworth somewhere to avoid the hill.
