    Re: Today's poet

Seeing as its gone towards the romantic floor of the poetry department

This was a poem I tried to write when I was 19 I only got as far as the line one the first time

I longed to lie by Helens side,
    Beautiful Helen from Carlisle,
    Gold drooped below, horizons
    Her shoulders made, which
I held but for a while. Eyes

That took up light like the
    Moon on green glass. Love
    what love you feel that
    when souls meet, you cry!

    Inexpecibly cry!

She made the air hard to
Breathe like it was pollen heavy.
I was ill when it was clear,
    Knowing love was distant,
    Far and not near

    I never took a photograph
Of her face and the cruelty of
time has left only; Helen a name
    Golden hair, green eyes
I long to sleep by Helens side.

Hello again Stevie! so nice to hear from you!...have you any idea how utterly glamorous your last comment sounded to a girl stuck in shields? (ie browsing in a book shop in Baltimore)...wow!....good to have you back...:-)

    Moon on green glass.

    and....

She made the air hard to
Breathe like it was pollen heavy.

This is all too serious - whats needed is some 'proper' Christmas poetry

It must have been a great day in the Advertising Office when they came up with that.

Have a good day everyone. I'm of to dig out the car. Anyone want some snow?

    The North Wind Doth Blow
(a traditional poem for Freckle and her children)

    The north wind doth blow,
    And we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then,
    Poor thing?
    He'll sit in a barn,
    And keep himself warm,
And hide his head under his wing,
    Poor thing.

    The north wind doth blow,
    And we shall have snow,
And what will the dormouse do then,
    Poor thing?
    Roll'd up like a ball,
In his nest snug and small,
He'll sleep till warm weather comes in,
    Poor thing.

    The north wind doth blow,
    And we shall have snow,
And what will the children do then,
    Poor things?
    When lessons are done,
They must skip hump, and run,
Until they have made themselves warm,
    Poor things.
