The rule re composite teams is there to exclude "super teams " being entered although that was always unlikely but if happened would cause uproar from other teams, not to exclude teams like Fell Ponies.
No problem with composite teams of course if it means that a club not having enough members available to enter can " borrow" one from another club, just think it might well be unfair to include that team in the prizes.

    Hi

Never suggested that the Fell Ponies should not enter or be excluded. I merely pointed out that by their own publicity that they are an unregistered club (with many members who race regulalry for registered clubs) and for the purposes of the relay a composite team and then consequently what that means.

Good luck to them in all their races, I think you may have guessed by now its all banter anyway.

    Pennine Bridleway Relay

The event is now full and we have closed the entry at 95 teams. The reason for the limit is to restrict the number of cars at the changeover points which are becoming a bit hectic. Logistics can be a bit of a problem on these type of events and I would ask people to car share at much as possible when leaving cars at the changeovers and I also ask spectators to avoid the changeovers. We have a few new clubs entering for the first time and I advise a leg recce. For clubs with inexperience on the fells or with inexperienced runners I advise them to read the safety page on the event website. If anyone wants any help or info on the event see the website or I will be available on this forum.

Callis Bridge the 2nd changeover is the biggest problem area for parking.

Just done Leg 5 this morning.

Horizontal Blizzard from the right all the way up the main drag, and then right in to the face on the descent.

I got a feeling of how Captain Scott must have felt.

Almost tropical again once in Waterfoot.

    Thoroughly enjoyed it

The run through Cragg Qarries towards the end of leg 5 is and down into Waterfoot is my regular training run and we have had all sorts of weather up there this last week. On Sunday it was just unrunnable with hard rutted ice, ended up on my backside several times which isnt good at my age ! worst conditions I have seen ever !.......bit better now but hope it clears for race day.

If you think it's better now, I wouldn't have liked to run it on Sunday

There were broken shards of ice, sticking up like glass through the snow. One slip on them and they would have had the same effect as glass I think.

    Re: Pennine Bridleway Relay

Been up there again yesterday and again this morning and I agree it is pretty bad. Not safe at at the moment. If the event was this weekend I would most probably have to call it off. Not sure what its like on other parts of the route in the Hebden Bridge or Todmorden area but I suspect its very much the same. We need a big thaw soon to get rid of that dangerous ice. Anyone out on a recce should be very careful.

4 weeks off yet so hopefully conditions will improve. Think i will leave my recce for a couple of weeks
