    I listen to Radio 2

    Re: Today's poet

Reminds me of a friend I used to fish with years ago. He daren't put his fishing umbrella up in rain as his wife used to shout at him if he got it wet!

I was watching the match at Leeds Road
    It started raining
The two old blokes in the next seats
    Took their caps off
    "Excuse me," I said
"Why are you taking your caps off?"
"Nay, lad," the nearest one replied
"I'm not going to sit all night
    In a damp cap."

    Free

    by: Alisha Sufit

    I thought of life
as though it were a space
    with walls and floor
    and ceiling,
sought to make it solid, fixed,
    construct it well,
so I should have security of place.

Then I heard the small stars'
    laughter pealing far away.
    "Fall!" they cried,
    "and fly,
for you cannot break your bones,
    nor die.

    There is no ground
    upon which you can land.
    It's all pure ether,
    solid as the sand
    that fills Egyptian deserts,
solid as the water in the sea.
    Let go and fall
and then you will be free."

    Re: Today's poet

Wine comes in at the mouth
    And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.

Now that is good too. I bought a book of his and haven't even started looking at it yet. I must dig it out.

    High Tea

Whilst on a Nepalese mountain walk
    I came across two Yetis
So I took them both back home to York
And we went for tea at Betty's
We ordered toast and tea with lime
    And some dainty little ices
    And everything was going fine
Till the Yetis saw the prices
They ate two tourists who came from Spain
The way they were was all too horrible
So I never took them there again
    Their behaviour was abominable
