    Re: Tigger Tor 31st Jan

The spread of abilities is very wide in this race; I'm generally towards the back of the pack but was nearer the middle last year.

In all but the worst viz you'll have no problems following others and one of the joys of this race is the group intelligence that always seems to find a good route across Burbage; I can never find one on my own.

If you really are back of the pack, you might lose touch with the field on the route to Houndkirk Hill from the Trough - I would definitely reccy that bit if nothing else.

There looks like a new twist this year; we need to get from the top of Houndkirk Hill back to the Fell Gate, I haven't tried this before so this will be the only part I reccy this year (is there a path there?)

Following a Totley vest isn't necessarily the best idea...especially if it's mine.

They are mulling over a new finish to avoid coming onto Hathersage Rd at the corner with Sheephill Rd. They originally muted direct from Houndkirk Hill to the Fell Gate but after a reccy thankfully decided as this was all bog deep bracken & heather it was impractical.

It looks like they are going with my suggestion of dropping left off Houndkirk Hill, crossing the stream and climbing the bank on the far side, past Gods Spring coming out at the large stone bridge on the Houndkirk Bridleway. Then you pick up the path through the heather we used to use on the original course which brings you back at the Fell Gate.

    Cheers RichK, that's useful info!
Plattsy - I was in the area last Friday and it was still either pretty thick snow or slush, but after the recent thaw I can't imagine there will still be any snow on the route next weekend unless it's fresh!

Was up there yesterday and there's still plenty of snow! Ringinglow Rd is shut above the Round House because of snow, as is fiddler's elbow!

Thanks Andy I'm a bit behind on club news. Presumably this will be a comulsory marked route? (the entry form is a bit amiguous).

I'll be there, either on my own or with one other.... I'll be in a somewhat battered ex postoffice van (54 plate), might see you there.

Cheers for the speedy results, and thanks to all the marshalls/organisers as it ran very smoothly.

Really liked the race today, I'm just a bit fed up that I went flying by Oxstones, and spent the rest of the race with a sore right foot & knee.... big toe now looks somewhat purple.

I bet there are some excellent photos knocking about, it was a stunning day out on the moors.
