Watching The Hudsucker Proxy. Rapidly becoming a new favourite.![]()
One for Mr Brightside.
Not strictly a movie but just finished series 2 of Sarah Connor Chronicles. WOW, what a series climax. Being careful not to be alone for a few days as its REALLY dark stuff, not many laughs but fantastically deep storyline; totally brilliant.
Hellboy the Golden Army.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it's rubbish. Don't watch it.
Watched Watchmen the other week. That was much better.
On TCM at 9 tonight, for those with lots of channels...

if you want to watch a great film then i recommend FARGO.
Fargo - defo
I heard a story from one of the actors that they asked the Cohen brothers if they could read the original police reports as some background to the film. The brothers looked confused so the actor said he'd read in the script that the film was based on a true story. The Cohen brothers (or maybe just one of them - they are not a gestalt) answered that they just made that bit up.
It's not a true story at all.
On an unrelated note, watched A Scanner Darkly again the other night. Brilliant - and only £2.50 from Amazon.
I believe it says at the start of the film 'This is a true story' - typical case of Coen bros leg pulling. However, in 2001 a Japanese woman did die of exposure in North Dakota, apparently searching for the money buried in this film
Last film watched - Love Exposure - four hours of Japanese madness about the son of a catholic priest who is forced by his guilt-ridden dad to commit sins and then confess them - he discovers up-skirt-pantie-photography, and and develops his skills to ninja-like levels, then his family becomes the target of a recruiter for a nihilist religious cult - oh, and he meets his true love whilst dressed in drag, which is OK because she hates all men, and then she becomes his step-sister....... OK so it probably sound pretty dodgy - but it's a great film, honest - almost Shakespearean! Certainly worth of cult classic status.
But let me AHA that! The 'true story' that a japanese woman died looking for the money buried in the 'true story' of fargo is equally untrue. She actually was depressed and committed suicide. Fargo though is a brilliant film, especially all the american, with dutch overtones, accents which by rights should have been really really annoying
