    Zen Poetry

I watch people in the world
Throw away their lives lusting after things,
Never able to satisfy their desires,
    Falling into deeper despair
    And torturing themselves.
Even if they get what they want
How long will they be able to enjoy it?
    For one heavenly pleasure
They suffer ten torments of hell,
Binding themselves more firmly to the grindstone.
    Such people are like monkeys
Frantically grasping for the moon in the water
And then falling into a whirlpool.
How endlessly those caught up in the floating world suffer.
Despite myself, I fret over them all night
And cannot staunch my flow of tears.

Seek not material wealth, but spiritual
The answers are inside, not out
    Dig deep, dig deeper
Confront yourself, banish fear and doubt
The road to happiness is an inward journey

    What is beauty ?.

    What is beauty ?.
Is it the fells that surround me,
Or the first breath as a free man,
Is it look in the eye a lover gives me,
    Or achieving everything you can.

It is anything that YOU want it to be,
The heart of your person your very soul,
Friendship of others like you,you and me,
To be free the death of beauty has to be our goal.

Good advice Merry...there is no shame to be had in walking up anyway. Until I began fell running, I was under the misguided notion that fellrunners always run and was pleasantly surprised to see some great runners stomping up the hardest parts, hands on knees and lungs bursting. Now I think, if I know that I can walk up the hill/mountain, I know I'll get to the top and if I can run up it...that is even better.

That's what's great about this sport, it doesn't matter how slow you percieve yourself to be, just get out and run/walk, give it your all and everyone's a winner, can't stand this 'i'm faster than you bullsh!t' them sort of ego's should stay on the road

what's it al aboot Mr Patridge?...i don't know but i like it, especially the spanish version (see tonight's music...)...back to poetry soon, honest....

    Hotel California

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
    There she stood in the doorway;
    I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
this could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

    Welcome to the hotel california
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany-twisted, she got the mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the captain,
    please bring me my wine
He said, we havent had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
    Just to hear them say...

    Welcome to the hotel california
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
They livin it up at the hotel california
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

    Mirrors on the ceiling,
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said we are all just prisoners here, of our own device
    And in the masters chambers,
    They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just cant kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
    Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
    relax, said the night man,
    We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
    But you can never leave!

    Sailing in the snow

    This time last night,
    your hands, your beautiful hands,
    held mine.

    They cast their nets
    and my hands cast theirs
then as we stepped out into the cold

    we found ourselves,
    unexpectedly,
    sailing in the snow.
