    Re: Hardmoors 55

Not been quite that far up, but snow caused the "official" Wheeldale tandem to be cancelled yesterday (plenty still ran it). Wasn't that much of it really - transport and road issues caused cancellation - and nice to run in, unless we get a massive dump of the stuff I'm not too worried. So I reckon must have been some on this route too, at least near Helmsley.

    Yipee

Have just managed to persuade the family to join me.
So now I can drive to Helmsley, sleep in comfort of our van, get up at a civilised hour and be collected later at the end! Idon't even mind having paid 10 quid for the coach that I won't need.
Only down side is that I need to have legs working well enough to do a nearby orienteering event on the Sunday

Gulp, I'm just hoping that my legs work well enough to get up and make a brew the next morning, that's if I do this. Not remotely got enough miles in legs! I know that's always the case, but I really haven't and don't want to be trashed before we even get to spring (if we get to spring!). However, since when has common sense ever been a factor.

I am hoping my legs are working well enough after having done the Wuthering Hike (Howarth Hobble)the weekend Before.
    Should be fun though

Not long now, day off work, meant to be tidying up my sh**hole of a house, but spent a good bit of time thinking about what to put in drop-bags, etc....

It's also my first time running 55 miles and the excitement about it that's carried me through training in the Winter months has gradually been displaced by apprehension and mild terror!

I ran the last 21ish miles of the course last Saturday though which was good for the confidence, from between Wainstones and Blowarth crossing to Guisborough. Only went wrong once(!) and covered it comfortably in 4 hours. There was still quite a bit of snow on the top though at Blowarth crossing which made for some tricky running, a lot of it very compacted and slippy so i'm not entirely ruling out taking some skates.

    Anyway, good luck all,

    See you there!
