    The Snow Storm

No hawk hangs over in this air:
    The urgent snow is everywhere.
The wing adroiter than a sail
Must lean away from such a gale,
    Abandoning its straight intent,
    Or else expose tough ligament
And tender flesh to what before
    Meant dampened feathers, nothing more.
Forceless upon our backs there fall
    Infrequent flakes hexagonal,
Devised in many a curious style
To charm our safety for a while,
Where close to earth like mice we go
    Under the horizontal snow.

I like it Mossy. I think you captured the ups and downs of life there.

I think you might have started something here with your "Life, is a bit like .... really" haiku start.

    Life, is a bit like
    today really; good bits, bad
    bits, middling bits.

That is a good one Alf. I hadn't seen the forecast so today's snow was a surprise. We had a lovely afternoon of sledging. My little lad finally got over being frightened of sledging and started enjoying it, so it was a lovely memorably day.

Well i think i will join you in the fruit and nutcake stakes but perhaps for less glam reasons than world wide travel! picture this.....

Been Getting back into a bit of training achilles giving me some Jip

    Iron Breath

My lungs are burning the more
    I breathe the more fuel,
    I add to the fire.
By blood is boiling inside my
    heart; some unkown valve, somewhere
amongst this untidy plumbing, is going
    To be torn apart.

    The valve issues a vapour,
    It rises through my trachea,
and fills my mouth with the
tang of iron; the taste of blood.
