Thanks Mike, I'll bear that in mind for future referance, so long as I don't slow you down
(example; my 'Splash' time was 1.03:16 - but t'was first attempt at it)

I thought about this event yesterday, as we passed through Mytholmroyd on our way to a family funeral up at Lumbutts, & what it would be like to run it.

Fancy having a run around CVR on Weds 3rd March starting around 10:30am if anyone wants to join me.
Steady pace as I know none of the route.
Any tips on what condition the paths/tracks are in at the moment, fairly wet I guess?

    Damn!

If it had been the following Monday/Tuesday, I might have been able to get over there, as they're my days-off

I rode into Wakefield, & nipped into Waterstones before work this afternoon, & bought 'Explorer 21', the 'South Pennines' sheet

Now, I've got to try & transpose the route directions onto the map itself, so I can view it properly

    Re: Calder Valley Round

I have been round the CVR today.
Great weather for it and good underfoot conditions with just a few wet bits.
    My splits were:
    Old Town Mill 31 mins,
    Gibson Mill 51 mins
Staups Mill 1 hr 34 mins
Stoodley Pike 2 hrs 13 mins
Track Junction 2 hrs 37 mins
Park Cottage 2 hrs 49 mins
Finish 2 hrs 59 mins (Yes really. The stopwatch said 2.58.48)
Although the whole route was new to me I found it easy to follow. I had carefully copied the route notes onto my map (using Google Earth as well). The only place I went wrong was dropping down in to Spring Wood near control 5. But that was my fault. The route I ended up taking through the woods was further than the correct route and rougher. I had to double back across the slope to find the right path.
Great route which I will no doubt do again (maybe in the other direction?).
    Thanks MM
