Does anyone know of a campsite/bunkhouse/camping barn close to the start of this? I've discovered the first train from Leeds would struggle to get me there in time so it looks like I'll have to find somewhere local to crash the night before.

Try Hathersage Youth Hostel. Hathersage Train Station is only 3 stops from Sheffield on the Hope Valley Line (or catch the 272 bus). Then Grindleford Station is 1 stop back towards Sheffield in the morning. Then its a leisurely 10 mins stroll to the Race Start from Grindleford Station. After the race either get the train back to Sheffield (2 stops) or the 240 bus which stops right outside the finish.Originally Posted by LiamM

Anybody on here doing this? I'll be plodding my way around.
Also, anybody done it before? Last year was down as twenty one miles but this year it is listed as twenty two. Just wondered if anybody was aware where (if any) route change has taken place. Purely just out of interest.

Yep, will be trotting this Saturday, been plodding for a few months recently so, not expecting too much! Did the Sandstone Trail a week back, 36 miles, 5281ft in 7hrs 11mins, so not expecting a record breaking run,
Recce'd this, some seven weeks back, when there was still snow on the top coming up from the climb after monsal trail section, up to cp
Garmin said just about 22 miles, 4325ft some folks take two short cuts one on the route, tut! which can make a little difference, but this year from final instructions, marshall's will be on these points,

Piglet, I've seen that on somebody else's Garmin too so it must be right! I think there are four fairly significant climbs.

Helped Marshal 2 years ago at White Rake (then demoted to kitchen boy). First check point / water stop on the Gallop.
To keep out minds off the frost bite we were asking runners 'how many miles on your GPS' - there were huge variations in distance never mind climb.
No snow left locally, but its been frosty most nights this week so should be 'firm' under foot.
