snow is alright, best case: melts between now and then and makes it soft underfoot, worst case: snow underfoot. As long as snow doesnt cause cancellation I'm happy

    Hi Guys

Just heard there is a slight change to the end.. for the better imho
Instead of coming out at Slapewath after Guisborough woods crossing the very busy Whitby Road twice and following Cleveland Street before becoming lost in Guisborough town centre, the route will come off just after Old Park Farm then follow the old railway line for a mile or so before taking a path to the right which takes you bang into the cricket club without having to cross any major roads, it is a mile shorter but a lot safer and will lead to the chance of a sprint finish lol

For me this is a lot better..

he says that this will be well signed and a checkpoint will be strategically positioned to stop any short cuts...

I beleive as well as safety this will be alot easier navigational wise

    What do you guys think??

54 or 55m, not too worried, don't know the Guisborough area but this sounds an improvement.

I was near the western escarpment up onto the moors just south of Osmotherley at a tiny village called Nether Silton yesterday. Lovely area and definately traces of snow visible around the top near the route of White Horse to Osmoth section (Hambletons?). Would be nice to have one last glimpse of or even a run in the snow

    Should be fun though
yep, me and swimmingDunce from Lincoln are gonna be repeat offenders too. well in my case assuming a rotten knee injury holds up.

As a Scarborian, its gonna be great to get back onto the NYMoors

how did you do at HH John - i was chuffed to crack 5hrs on my first attempt, and only 1 week after doing 60 miles on the GranthamCanal Ultra 2-dayer.(2nd )

And I'm wondering if nine hours total of road cycling on Sun and Mon is the best preparation for this

Hope to have a chance to meet people and chat more too

has anyone who's done the 110 before or local knowledge got any hints on tricky navigational sections?

oh, and it's looking like this settled dry weather is gonna end on Saturday

Guisborough woods in the dark sounds tricky (at least for us slow coaches!!).

Tricky bits - finding the route into Osmotherley (keep your eye on the map)
Guisborough Woods (but I beleive will be signed really well) the new end makes it all a lot easier. It follows the Cleveland Way so is quite well signed!!
    See ya Sat

I've only scanned through route so far, but I believe route into Osmoth is same (or similar) as end of Osmotherley Phoenix? Signposted quite well if I recall. I'm not so worried about the navigation so much as this descent being the start of a difficult 15m of the biggest undulations. At least the underfoot should be good for this section.

Good luck all who are doing this. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that the rain doesn't arrive with too much of a vengeance.
