There's a better descent line than the track up if you know where you're going..

It was quite a sight watching everyone flying down. Though I was still on my way up..... I must make the cut off time this year. Missed it by ten mins last time, but so did quite a few. We just carried on anyway....being stubborn....

which bit? From the summit I wasn't sure the lower off track route is that good really. The obvious short cuts are quick, I was unsure if they were allowed, but went anyway.

I thought leaving the track and traversing below it on the grass was worthwhile, but you have to be careful not to overdo it. Cutting the zigzags off was good but very steep and tiring on the quads.

Keep to the left after the rocky bit from the summit (but not too far) makes for good grasdsy descent and then at the zig zags (steeper bit) go straight down the middle but only worth it if you go for it. I am slightly cautious because a couple of years ago going staright down the middle i got tangled up in a bit of loose wire. I always find the hardest part of Cadr is hitting the bottom and going back past the lake - my energy reserves always seem to be arock bottom at that point. But done it a few times and recommend it. It wasa scorcher last yaer and needed to take on water but they laid on water stops. It followed a scorcher at carneddau the week before also. That's another nice race about same distance - 8th may this year.

I didn't know there was a cut off, though. Has there always been?

Yeah agree on the direct line, not sure the top line is much quicker at all - I followed that way going up but coming down stayed close to the path, I don't like being on slopes which slope across your ankles though, found it hard going. Yeah did it last year, had a terrible climb, but descended well, can't remember where I finished, 4th I think. Pretty hot, but hot early season days always hurt more.

There was water at the car park, but did you get any water on the hill, it was there but in drums and I think you had to pour it yourself, I didn't bother stopping.

Not long before this one now.

If I don't make the cut-off time again I shall be mad.....

Try and get water and/or fuel on board before you hit the road on the descent. I felt good coming off the mountain but when I hit the road, I felt like shit and it took me ages to get going again.
