Find me a pair of comfortable fell shoes Geoff and I'll wear 'em to work if you like. 75% of that run was pretty much trail conditions underfoot.

anyway, didn't do me much good either way, was 30 seconds the wrong side of the four-hour mark by my reckoning anyway. Not too bad considering lack of training but felt like I was struggling all the way from Brown Knoll.

Thanks to Derby Tup for some morale-boosting shouts on the way round or else I'd've been a few mins slower.

how many entrants were there, 350? and 270 started...?

Indeed, was good to see you DT. I was actually thinking of packing it in at Mam Nick because I felt far worse than I really should have done after just 11-odd miles, something wasn't right with me, but wasn't going to do so in front of someone I knew! Well impressed with the route and setting, and didn't think Brown Knoll was that bad really (Ilkley Moor's much worse right now). My particular favourite bit was being enthusiastically cheered by a group of young ladies on the way down to Crookstone. Just as well they weren't at Grindslow - I wasn't looking so good by that point!

I enjoyed watching first half yesterday greatly and second half made a nice training run. Everyone I saw that I know from forum seemed to be going well and mostly enjoying it. Zoot I told you you'd do well Well done Trimm for carrying on when you felt out of sorts.

Hi TT did you find some where for your stuff. I never saw you although I asked a couple of bikers if it was you?

    Hi Ian,

I was going to look for you after sorting my kit out (was there good and early!) but a kind gent asked me if I wanted to dump my stuff in his boot, thought I may as well take him up on it! Would have been good to meet you but I'm sure I will sooner or later - I think the Skyline will be a red-circle event in my calendar from now on so I'll definitely see you next year (when I hope to run a similar time to you this time round )

What a superb day! This is only the second time I've done this race and I've been lucky with the weather both times (dare I risk a third one next year?!) Had a great run to Mam Tor, but on the way up to Brown Knoll it got very tough - just nothing in my legs. Partly lack of hill training this year and partly not taking on enough food early on. Finished 10 minutes slower than last year, but who cares with such fantastic scenery.

I took some photos on the way round and my family took some at the start, finish and on Mam Tor. There's a combined set here:

And thanks to all the marshals and organisers for making it such a great event!

Yeah they were fantastic. As we approached it sounded like a grandstand had been set up; I thought they were just cheering their friends but I could still hear them when I was a furlong away.

A cracking race, really loved it thanks to Helen E who warned me not to panic about the cut off and to take it easy on the first half; I really enjoyed the second half because of that.
