Felt ok till just before Ribblehead when the wheels came off. Nearly packed it in there but decided to do the honourable thing and continue to the hill inn where I was timed out (by a fair margin so didn't feel too bad about it). Back next year with better preparation and this time I really will drink the water and eat rather than just carrying it round for the fun of it.

Was anyone slower than my 5:05?

Did you notice 63% of the entrants were in the vet category?

I also had the dreaded inner-thigh cramp going up Ingleborough. Bl**dy painfull and very difficult to stretch out. Most of the muscle strain is on quads/calfs, so why do the inner thighs cramp. Any experts out there who can help ?

If its upper inner thigh that is cramping then it could be your hip flexors causing it. Other option is you are using your adductors to rest other muscles which is going to cause cramping fairly quick as the adductors work more as a stablising muscle in runners.

A fine day in the Dales. Everything went according to plan for a change - no cramp and no bonk - and the old man managed to erase the memory of his previous disastrous attempt. What a long cruel descent it is from the top of Ingleborough, much harder than it looks.

Had a brief chat with Moo coming down from Penyghent and judging by his comments earlier in this thread, think we were parked next to Detritus21 and were chatting to you back at the car after the race (the old man was wearing his orange Foreign Legion hat).

Well done everybody. See you next weekend at the Lllangwing.., the Llynwang... - that championship race in North Wales.

    Woof!

What a race , I had no idea that wernside was going to be that steep or that long!

Was ok untill the Hill Inn (3.06) but really struggled up Ingleborough. Thanks to whoever was handing out jelly babies on the Top.

at one point on the final decent I had cramp in both calves and in my thigh which was an experience.

was really pleased to finished in 4.41

    Hi,
Great day out yesterday, what an atmosphere! I thought it was abit too warm at ground level though. Thanks go to all the spectators dishing out drinks and jelly babies and shouting their support, ringing bells, really gave me a buzz. I had the biggest smile when i saw the finishing field, i think that was more relief though! Cheers to Pudgy for talking me into trying it and for the race plan beforehand, it paid off, i was well impressed to finish in 03.49hrs. Stairs are a bugger today!!
