Can anyone help with a list of any uphill only races in the UK this season?
No! This is the FRA forum!!!! "Fellrunning - we take the ups with the downs"
I'm only looking for fun........
not much in the way of uphill only races to choose from in the uk.
the british team trials race is the only one i can think of and its usually held in Llanberis in August Bi-annualy (depending if the Euro /worlds is a uphill only or a up/down race).with the change from the trophy to a champinonship in the worlds ,im not sure how this affects the trials though.
or here. Glas Tulaichean is early June (5th) - what's more they take your kit up in a landy and you can then go off and bag the Munro's to the north.
Never understood the point of only running up a hill though.
The point is, some of us are s*#t scared of running downhill! (well, of falling and breaking something, then not being able to run for ages. Actually never seen the point of races so steep that even the winner's forced to walk, but that's another matter ).
Other uphill only races are the Garth Uphill race near Cardiff (1.5 miles, 915', 1st run 16/1/10, results at http://www.wfra.me.uk/);
Ilkley Incline (1 mile, 560', at least part-road, Wed 8/9/10, http://www.ilkleyharriers.co.uk/incl...neindex.html);
Aonach Mor, Lochaber (2.5 mi, 1970', 1/1/10 and ~late July, http://www.scottishhillracing.co.uk/...RaceID=RA-0011).
Not done any of these, but can vouch for the Tracks to Trig time trial - bit of everything in just over a mile of racing. Favourite, though all on road, is the Mow Cop Killer Mile (1 mi, 550', Thu 29/4/10, http://www.mowcop.info/killermile/killermile.htm): proper Tour de France style atmosphere created by the locals outside the pub at the 3/4 mile point! Otherwise, look for races without too mad a descent - today's Rivington Pike isn't bad (apart from the 1st few hundred yards off the top!). Further afield, Europe seems far keener on uphill only races (to an alarming degree, on http://www.berglaufpur.de/news.html: "Downhill running is dangerous for our health" ), presumably as there are bigger hills to go at!
Ilkley Harriers do a 1 mile uphill race in September, road and track.

Good prize list, as well as marrows for the winners!
Not big at all. There's also the Orme 5k. I reckon there should be a few more.
I reckon Marchlyn Mawr would be a good one up hill race, road all the way to almost 2000ft.
We aren't set up as well here for up hills though, not like in the Alps with all the summit buildings. Apart from Snowdon around here, hence why that's the only one.
BOFRA Murder Mile road uphill race 1ml/800ft July 1
TTT road uphill race 2.5ml/950ft July 2
TTT race is excellent. Not done MM but going to check route out for BG training

Hi
Although it's too late for this season, there's the Burway Burn, which shouldn't qualify as a fell race on the earlier criterion of having no downs and also because it's 100% on road. The race is on a Wednesday evening in mid-Feb, so in darkness too... It's 2m/1,000' approx. from Church Stretton onto the Long Mynd. You do have to jog back down afterwards unless you blag a lift!
Good fun...
