Right so on with the important stuff. Looks like what your suggesting is stay right of the craggy rock at the top and then rejoin the path for a bit and then hang left of it...
Dare I try it on the day? probably resort to following the person in front.
    Cheers - the map's ace!
Not sure if you're reading my 'excellent' map properly there . The main path is shown in brown and the shortcuts are red dotted lines.

Hmm, letting people enter above the limit with a strict non refund policy.

    Seems abit suspect...
Just looked on the site 999 entry’s wonder how many will turn up on the day, how many of these will have the relative experience required to cope if its a bad day ,the rescue services could be stretched, what about the environmental impact of 1000 runners, the organisers just upping the limit as soon as ones been reached, seems like its just become a money making exercise, I work it out with the 180 U/A and FRA runners all paying £20 that comes to £16684 on entry’s alone and with sponsorship on top Who knows? not quite the London marathon but not bad for just a Fell race.
I have done it for the last five years, but I cannot see the fun in running in a big procession, TWA for me this year. Saying all that it’s a great atmosphere on the day so if you are doing it go out there and enjoy its just not for me.

Hi all when it says intermediate drink stations will be at High Birkwith (12km) and Sulber Nick (34km)" does it mean the organisers will provide water or do you have to dip your head in the cattle trough or stream cheers

Too much of the route is easy running even in wet, wild and slimey weather - the cart track up PyG, the track from Nether Lodge, the road to Ribblehead, the track to the tunnel under the railway, the ridgeline of Whernside, the lane after descending Whernside, the slabbed path up Ingleborough and even much of the 5 or so mile trog in after Ingleborough is easyish running. In addition the initial descents off of PyG and Whernside are also both super fast, especially if you know the proper line off of Whernside. In terms of downhill versus uphill getting on for 16 miles is generally or actually in the downhill direction too.

In fact the whole shebang is a doddle
    nice

You don't get an entry pack. Just pick up your number and any other bits & pieces and tee shirt if you ordered one .
