Even my sexy err.. off white skin suffered the sunburn today, must remember to wear cap the right way around, theres a strange shape burnt into to top of my head (no replies to that please, its a family forum).

I enjoyed it today, nice un easy until top of Dale head then tried to push it but didnt really get going until highspy.

Great race, good food and a good crack.
Good to see you on Dale Head Navigator, it gave me something to think about as I sweated through the checkpoint.

by the way, is it my computer or are we on a new site now?

my first AW and certainly won't be my last - what a cracker!
took it nice 'n' steady with regular pauses to admire the scenery/catch breath and go again
chatted to a few people on the way round (not even forumites! )
and was amazed to finish ahead of Mountain Goatess , but dismayed to finish behind emmi who swore blind she was going to be plodding round at BG pace
was aiming for sub-3, and clocked 2:52 so well chuffed

Well done Daz, it was hot one. My hat had emulated my stripey vest with lines of dried sweat. Had I known, I would have licked it at regular intervals from Dalehead onwards.

Hey Mudlugger, were you in a black and white vest with your hat on backwards? (tour de france style!)

I think I kept passing you from base of Robinson to somewhere low down on High Spy - where I ran out of energy and everyone disappeared into the distance...

    Aye Steve
that would be me, (think even ramblers pass me on the ascents) I ussually keep turning my hat around to keep the sun out of my eyes or off the back of me neck repectively but I guess I completely forgot all about it. I was also the one with the white stripe of tape up the outside of my calfs (an article in last months FRA mag). Its the first time I've ran without ankle straps for over 12 months, it was such a relief and I think they actually did work. For once, I could sense that I had feet and it reminded me to keep my eyes on the ground in front of me.
Which reminds me, I owe Denise Park a drink and big thank you for the wonderfully informative article on ankle injuries. I thought I was destined to wear those straps for evermore.

I gave the last of my drink to some poor guy between Maiden Moor and catbells and said he could carry the bottle back to finish but I didn't see him, not that I would have recognised him in the state I was in.
